YOOJ

Yooj is a young San Francisco born dj and producer who has carved a unique journey through sound since he first jumped into the world of house music in early 2012.

He garnered countless accolades and supporters with his release ‘Mademoiselle,’ an EP that held it’s position in both Beatport and Resident Advisor’s top 10, while finding it’s way onto shows like John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ and garnering festival and radio play from the likes of Sven Väth, Noir, Luca Bacchetti and more.

A relocation to Berlin signalled a new chapter, however, as Yooj began to feel the effects of his new city and its rich and diverse spectrum of music and culture. Locked away in his studio during the frigid Berlin winter, he began to explore house music’s past with as much zeal as he had previously given to its present.

He first tested these new waters by releasing ‘Dream Dish,’ a remake of a 90′s house classic that garnered repeated play from the likes of Eats Everything, Darius Syrossian, Bicep, and Gerd, among others. Upcoming releases of this more deeply rooted sound are already in the pipeline for labels like Avotre and Retrofit, and are already finding airplay on the likes of Ministry of Sound Radio and Ibiza Global Radio.

And during all of this, Yooj has put just as much priority on honing his skills as a DJ in Berlin’s clubland, fostering a growing and dedicated fan base who are always eager to experience his seemingly innate ability as a selector – whether it be a 2 hour throwdown in the peaktime or one of his increasingly talked about 6 hour sessions that continue to hypnotize dancefloors deep into the morning hours.

Through House Resort by Siler and Flabaire, who have already been a part of the first La Parenthèse House edition, one dives into a loungy warmth. The final track comes from San Francisco born, Berlin based producer Yooj. He drops a multi-layered journey with a catching balance of emotional and percussion-driven energy.
